Volunteer
Night to Shine is only possible through all of the help of a lot of volunteers needed before and during the prom

It takes more than a hundred people generously volunteering their time to make Night to Shine happen. We’d love for you to be a part of this special night.
Review some of the volunteer roles below. Once you have completed your volunteer application, you will be able to sign up for the team of your choice.

Attend a volunteer training at Living Hope Community Church Doylestown
Training is mandatory for both new and returning volunteers.
Sunday January 25 2026 1:00-2:30 PM

SET-UP TEAM (casual wear is O.K.)
Arrive at the designated time and execute event set-up, including table/chairs and decor.
PARKING TEAM
(casual wear is acceptable. Wear warm jackets, hats and gloves)
Maintain a parking pattern and direct traffic for easy vehicle entry and exit. Maintain open fire and emergency lanes.
PARKING LOT ESCORT TEAM- ****THIS TEAM IS CRUCIAL FOR THIS LOCATION****
Assist guests as they exit vehicles and help them to registration entrance. Be available as guests return to their vehicles following the event.
MILKSHAKE BARISTA (black pants, any color button down shirt)
Blend up delicious milkshakes for the guests in the café area.
FOOD PREP TEAM (black pants, black button down shirt)
Assist in the kitchen with preparing the food and putting it in the warmers on the buffet line.
FOOD SERVICE TEAM
(black pants, white button down shirt)
Serve food to guests in main event space and Respite Room (for parents, caretakers or family members). Also, walk around to serve hor d'oeuvres. Be knowledgeable about the items and assist guests in finding what they would like (especially if they have dietary restrictions or allergies) and refill food warmers, drinks, and snacks.
KITCHEN CLEAN UP CREW (casual wear is acceptable)
Wash dishes and help the kitchen supervisor with keeping the kitchen tidy. We will need a crew DURING the event, as well as possibly Saturday AM.
RED CARPET TEAM
Assist guests as they make their way down the red carpet, manage flow of traffic and cheer them on to make them feel welcomed.
BUDDY TEAM
Accompany and assist assigned guest throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance he/she may need during the event. Sit with your guest during dinner and engage him/her in conversation. We recommend volunteer buddies be at least 16 years old.
WHILE WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PAIR MALES WITH MALES, WE WELCOME ANY FEMALE THAT IS COMFORTABLE BEING A BUDDY TO A MALE GUEST FOR THE EVENING TO SIGN UP TO BE A BUDDY TO A KING, IN THE EVENT WE ARE SHORT IN THIS AREA.
Junior buddies (ages 13-15) will serve alongside their parents and their honored guest. Junior buddies MUST attend one of the training sessions with their parent.
Buddies do NOT administer medications or assist guests with bathroom needs. No prior or specialized experience is required to be a buddy. Just a fun loving attitude and a big heart!
GUEST CHECK IN TEAM
Greet guests as they enter the main doors. Find their name tags and then direct them to flower pick up, tiara/crown pick up, step and repeat photo, buddy pairing and THEN the red carpet.
COAT CHECK TEAM
Greet guests, take their coats, label them and hang them. As guests leave, ask for their coat tag and retrieve their coats.
CROWNING TEAM
Distribute crowns/tiaras for crowning of each honored guest prior to their photo at the step and repeat area.
RED CARPET TEAM
Assist guests as they make their way down the red carpet, manage the flow of traffic and cheer them on to make them feel welcomed. Once all guests have entered, red carpet volunteers may sign up for another team for the remainder of the evening. If not serving on another team, we request that you enjoy a meal in the gymnasium before departing for the evening.
LIMO TEAM
Help guests as they arrive for, depart and return from their limo ride by opening doors and escorting them to and from the limo.
RESPITE ROOM TEAM
Love on the parents/caretakers by spending time getting to know them and being available to pray with them.
RESPITE PAMPERING TEAM
Provide back/shoulder/hand massages, as well as manicures/paraffin hand dips, to parents/caregivers in the respite area. These are just a few possible examples. Offerings may change based on the specific talents of our volunteers.
RESPITE FAVOR DISTRIBUTION TEAM
Set up and distribute favors to caregivers at the end of the evening in the respite area.
HAIR/MAKE UP CHECK IN TEAM
Check in guests with hair/make up appointments. Escort them first to guest registration and then to the hair and makeup room.
HAIR MAKE UP TEAM
Welcome each guest to a salon station for hair and makeup. Chat with them while you pamper them and make them feel special. PROFESSIONAL hair and makeup experience required!!!!
DONATIONS OF MAKE UP AND HAIR SUPPLIES (HAIRSPRAY, FANCY HAIR PINS, ETC)
PHOTO BOOTH TEAM
Encourage guests to participate in the photo booth by choosing fun props. Help to maintain a fun atmosphere.
GUEST FAVOR DISTRIBUTION TEAM
Set up and distribute favors to guests as they leave.
QUIET ROOM TEAM
Be a calm, welcoming presence for those guests who need a quiet place to sit, read, chat, etc.
FLORAL TEAM
Assist buddies with choosing and pinning flowers on guests
DANCE FLOOR TEAM
Monitor the dance floor and the perimeter to make sure there are no “wallflowers.” Invite them to dance and engage with them. Distribute fun accessories- if available.
KARAOKE TEAM
Help guests choose a song and keep the line running smoothly.
SAFETY/SECURITY TEAM
Support on-site uniformed Law Enforcement personnel by ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests and volunteers. Coordinate with local police, fire, and rescue as needed. Walk around and monitor the main event space and outdoor areas, making sure exits are not blocked and all areas remain wheelchair accessible. Members of this team will also be posted at every entry/exit door.
MEDICAL TEAM (professional attire)
Assist uniformed professional EMT personnel at the event by providing basic first aid and care for any medical needs or emergencies. Assist with bathroom needs- if requested or needed. Please wear professional attire so that guests/volunteers can easily identify you- if needed. LICENSED HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS only!
TEAR DOWN TEAM (casual wear is acceptable)
Take down decorations, tables, chairs, etc. and clean up the event space. Heavy lifting tear down will include but is not limited to rolling up and transporting the red carpet and stanchions downstairs, table tear down, etc. Light duty tear down will include "dedecorating" and packing away/organizing decorations. We need muscles and organizers to get the job done!!
We will need assistance Friday night, as well as possibly Saturday morning.

Key Information & Policies:
Volunteer Age Requirement: Due to venue logistics and safety, all on-site volunteers must be age 13 or older on or before February 13, 2026 to work during the event. This is a no-exceptions policy for our initial year at this location.
All volunteers must have background clearances completed before January 20, 2026 See details below.

BACKGROUND CLEARANCES
PLEASE NOTE: Mandatory training sessions for volunteers will be held at Living Hope Community Church Doylestown. See times and dates HERE. Proof of all clearances must be provided before arrival at the training session.
Background checks are needed for those over the age of 18 and have not had a background check completed in the past 60 months. Clearances must be dated no earlier than March 1, 2021.
If you have not had a background check within the last 60 months, please complete 1 - 4 below.
All others just complete #4 (and 3 if applicable)

3. PERMISSION FORM for those aged 13-17. Volunteers aged 13-17 should complete the Volunteer Registration and then have their parent/guardian complete this permission form.
4. OBTAIN COPIES of your Clearances and Permission Form (ages 13-17). Then forward
a copy (screen shot, word doc or pdf) to nts@livinghopepa.org .
